Learn about how we’re protecting fish and generating energy on the Clackamas.
Portland General Electric helps fish migrate safely along the Clackamas River every year while we power Oregon with clean, emissions-free hydropower. Our history here spans more than a century, defined by constant innovation and a strong commitment to preserve the fish, wildlife and natural beauty of the river for future generations. We’re in it for the long haul, and we take our role as environmental stewards seriously. We’ve recently made significant investments to ensure that we will be able to continue to protect the fish while providing our customers with safe, reliable, affordable power for another hundred years.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has set a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for mercury in the Willamette River Basin. A TMDL sets discharge limits for entities like PGE, to improve water quality and maintain compliance with relevant standards. View or download PGE’s Mercury TMDL Implementation Plan.
PGE submits an annual Mercury TMDL Status Report to DEQ summarizing activities and monitoring results of the previous calendar year. View or download PGE’s 2023 Annual Report.
