Unlike our Basic Service pricing, Time of Day charges different prices at different times of day. Time of Day pricing is less than Basic Service all hours and days except for the On Peak timeframe of 5–9 p.m. weekdays. So, if you can shift your energy use during that peak period, you can save on your PGE bill!
Can you make the shift?
Adjusting your household routine just a little can help you save. Do the laundry, dishes, or charge your EV before 5 or after 9 p.m. Or put off some chores to the weekend, when all hours are the lowest off-peak price.

So, how much savings are we talking about?
That’s up to you! You’re always in control. The more you shift, the more you’ll save. Some months your bill may be higher than others, but as long as you can reduce your energy use from 5–9 p.m. weekdays, you should save on your annual electric bill. And here’s more good news: After your first year on Time of Day, if you end up paying 10 percent more than you would have paid on Basic Service pricing, we’ll refund you the amount you paid over that additional 10 percent!

What is Time of Day?
Time of Day is a pricing option that gives you more control over your energy bill. With Time of Day, all you need to do is shift your energy use away from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday – Friday. You’ll pay a lower energy price, plus you’ll help us use more sustainable energy when we would otherwise have to rely on less environmentally friendly sources of energy.
What are the prices and hours for Time of Day?
Off-Peak: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday-Friday; All day Saturday, Sunday and holidays* – 8.39¢ per kWh
Mid-Peak: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday – 15.77¢ per kWh
On-Peak: 5-9 p.m. Monday-Friday – 41.11¢ per kWh
*Weekend and holidays are considered Off-peak. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be designated the holiday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be designated the holiday. Holidays are as follows:
New Year’s Day on Jan. 1
Memorial Day, the last Monday in May
Independence Day on July 4
Labor Day, the first Monday in September
Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November
Christmas day on Dec. 25

Who is eligible?
All PGE residential customers are eligible for Time of Day.
Is Time of Day right for me?
Time of Day is an optional pricing plan that you may select instead of Basic Service. Depending on your schedule and energy use, you may decide that Time of Day is not for you. While the mid-and off-peak prices for Time of Day are less expensive than Basic Service, prices during the on-peak hours of 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays are more expensive.
You can unenroll during the first 12 months at any time. If you choose to unenroll and change your mind later, you will be eligible to re-enroll in Time of Day 12 months from the time of your unenrollment. Terms and Conditions.
What about charging my electric vehicle?
If you have an EV, Time of Day may be a great choice for you. If you charge your EV overnight, or just avoid the peak hours of 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, you can save on your bill.

Ready to make the switch?
We recommend a 12-month enrollment commitment with Time of Day. While this is not required, we encourage you to stay in the program for a year to see your annual savings. Some months your bill may be higher than others, but as long as you can reduce your energy use from 5-9 p.m. weekdays, you should save on your annual electric bill. Plus, if you stay on Time of Day for 12 months and pay more than 10 percent over what you would have on the Basic Service plan for that same period, PGE will refund the difference over 10 percent.
Enrolling is easy. And if you decide Time of Day is not for you, you can change your mind at any time.
