Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)
These run like an EV and use battery power for the first several miles but then switch over to gas power to extend the range when the battery charge is depleted. The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is an example of a plug-in hybrid car.
All-Electric (BEV)
All-electric cars don’t use any gas, ever. The Volkswagen ID.4 is an example of an all-electric car. Just plug it in for a few hours at home or at one of the handy charging stations around town, and you’re good!

Charging at home
