Weatherization Assistance

Need a little extra support making your home more energy efficient? Help may be available through Weatherization Assistance.

Free help with weatherization if you qualify

Weatherizing your home — like adding insulation, sealing up air leaks or improving your heating — can make a big difference in energy use, your bills and keeping things cozy. But what if your budget's tight and you aren't the DIY type?

Good news! If you meet the income guidelines below, you could get this work done for free — even if you're renting (just check in with your landlord). If you qualify for weatherization support, your local Community Action Agency can connect you with professionals who can handle insulation, furnace repairs, heating ducts and more.

Once you apply and qualify, you’ll be contacted for an energy audit to pinpoint ways you can save energy, like:

  • Ceiling, wall and floor insulation

  • Energy-related minor home repairs

  • Air infiltration reduction

  • Furnace repair or replacement

  • Heating duct improvements

  • Energy conservation education

The agency you contact will send an employee or contractor to perform the audit and weatherization work. Ask the agency for the name of the contractor so you can confirm their identity when they arrive. Remember, the work is provided at no cost to eligible participants. Renters may also receive assistance, but your landlord must agree to have the work done.
